Raglan Capital Sponsors of Sailor Joan Mulloy

Raglan Capital proudly sponsor Irish solo sailor Joan Mulloy who will be the first Irish female sailor to compete in the Solitaire du Figaro race this coming August 2018. The race, involving four legs totalling 1600-nautical miles, starts in France’s Normandy region of Le Havre with a 570-nautical mile leg around the English Channel to Baie de Saint-Brieuc in Brittany followed by a further three legs including to Western Gallicia in Spain. Fewer than 15% of competitors are female.

The upcoming Figaro II in March 2018 will entail a two-hour, single-handed, inshore race where skippers battle the elements in strong winds and rough seas off the coast of Les Sables d’Olonne, France. Joan is no stranger to the rugged seas, originally from Co. Mayo in the west of Ireland and working long hours on the family mussel farm in Clew Bay. Joan has her sights set on qualifying for the Solitaire du Figaro for August 2018 and Raglan will be supporting her along the way.

This is the second time Raglan has sponsored Team Ireland racers having backed Ireland’s first Vendée Globe entrant, Enda O’Coineen, in 2016. Nicknamed the “Everest of the Seas”, the Vendée Globe is a single-handed, non-stop, around the world yacht race which takes places every 4 years and is considered to be the unrivalled test in ocean racing. Unluckily, Enda was demasted and crashed out 180 miles off the coast of New Zealand in one of the remote places on earth on New Year’s day 2017 but has decided to pick up from where he left off an complete the race later this year.

Joan, part of Team Ireland has already achieved a string of successes in the highly competitive racing scene and is one of Ireland’s most promising offshore sailors. We at Raglan Capital wish Joan every success in her sailing upcoming races, For more information on Joan Mulloy please see the link to her official website: https://joanmulloyracing.com/
